Sydney Eisteddfod

A huge congratulations to Samantha Wong who placed 1st at Sydney Eisteddfod in 10 years Classical Ballet and Highly Commended in 10 year Lyrical solos. This is the most prestigious competition in the country and this is a wonderful result!

Congratulations also to Grace Losco who received Highly Commended in the 9 years Jazz Solo. Fantastic achievement!

Two of our students have been selected to perform with The Australian Ballet in their upcoming performances of La Bayadere and The Nutcracker. Both girls are extremely honoured and excited to have this wonderful opportunity to dance at the Sydney Opera House with our national ballet company. Congratulations to Nandini Dhir who will be dancing in La Bayadere and Samantha Wong who will be dancing in The Nutcracker. They will be performing in several shows during November and December.

We will be holding holiday workshops for students in January at our studios. Classes will include Jazz, Musical Theatre, Contemporary, Tap and a special Boys only day. Further information will be available shortly.

NEWS & ACHIEVEMENTS – 2010

Special congratulations and mention goes to Megan Hilder. Her outstanding achievements in 2010 are as follows:

  • Promoted to Level 2 at the Australian Ballet School in the Interstate Training Programme. This will be Megan’s 3rd year in the Interstate Training Programme.
  • Equal Winner Cecchetti Grade 4 Ballet Scholarship
  • Megan was selected by NSW Cecchetti Ballet Examiners to reveive the prestigious William Carse Memorial Scholarship.
  • Megan has also been selected to perform with The Australian Ballet during the Sydney season of Peter Wright’s Nutcracker. You can look out for her performing with the Company during their November-December season 2010.

Ballet exam results were fantastic again this year, with all students from Pre-Primary to Grade 3 receiving honours and a mark of 90 or above. 7 students received a mark of 100 for their exam! Well done!

Two former students, Bonny Barker and Alexandra Utz have graduated with a Certificate IV in Performing Arts after completing 2010 full time at ED5 International.

Niyati Chaukra has been accepted into the full time dance course at Brent Street Performing Arts in 2011.

Former student Amy Coggiola was accepted by audition into Youth Contemporary Company YouMove in 2010.

Students auditioned in front of a live audience, and performed a solo. Selected finalists then performed a solo on stage at the Finals Night. The following students received awards at the finals:

NAB Dance the Dream Competition

Congratulations to Elizabeth Kersten for being selected as a 2011 NAB Dance the Dream winner. Elizabeth submitted her entry and was chosen out of hundreds of applications to take a masterclass with ex Australian Ballet Principals, Steven Heathcote and Lynette Wills.

NSW Cecchetti Student Choreographic Competition
